I am an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. I teach general chemistry and physical chemistry, both classroom and laboratories.

I have three separate research areas. I have an active research program in science education with my main collaborator, Dr. Heather Wilson-Ashworth. I perform bench research in chemobrionics examining the chemical garden reaction. I am starting work with a pXRF instrument looking at art and antiquities.

When I’m not at UVU, I’m with my family. My partner (Dr. Christine Weigel) is professor of philosophy at UVU. I have two kids, Satchel and Harper, and two cats and a dog.
